Today’s Healthy Drink: Immune Boosting Grapefruit

A nutrient rich Immune Boosting Grapefruit Banana Smoothie! Not only is it packed with wholesome goodness, but it’s the easiest smoothie I have ever made. With only 4 ingredients (JUST FOUR) it’s really easy to make, and it is SO DELICIOUS, your taste buds won’t believe what hit them.

“Can GRAPEFRUIT go in a smoothie?” I asked myself the same thing, and the answer is YES!!  Grapefruit can absolutely go in a smoothie, in fact, it’s zingy, sweet, FULL of grapefruit flavour, filling, creamy and Mmmm, so good!  Read on to find out how to make a grapefruit smoothie the right way…

This Immune Boosting Grapefruit Banana Smoothie is full of ALL the GOOD STUFF!  Vitamins, minerals, fibre…how healthy can you get!

It is said that the powerful nutrient combination of fibre, potassium, lycopene, vitamin C and choline in grapefruit all help to maintain a healthy heart.  And ward off colds and flu!  Which is good news for those of us that are in the middle of the winter months…lots of snuffles going around!

This Immune Boosting Grapefruit Banana Smoothie is made with lots of grapefruit, bananas, orange and Greek yoghurt.  How simple is that?!

We all know that oranges are packed with vitamin C, and bananas are a great source of potassium, manganese, and a very good source of vitamin B6.

So basically we’ll be warding off flu bugs left right and centre if we have one of these guys every day!  I’ve got a whole pocket of juicy, ripe and ready-to-eat red grapefruit, so I pretty much will be doing just that!

Funny story.  That pocket of grapefruit I just mentioned was supposed to be a pocket of oranges.  They’re smaller grapefruit than I usually see around, and they looked just like oranges at a glance.  But what a happy mistake!!  They are definitely the best grapefruit I have ever eaten – so sweet and not at all bitter.  I’m going to be buying them all the time now!

I’m pretty certain this smoothie wouldn’t be the same with yellow grapefruit.  I find red grapefruit to be much sweeter and less bitter than yellow grapefruit which is what makes this smoothie so completely delicious.

Servings: 2

Ingredients

2 red grapefruits peeled and segmented

2 bananas sliced

Juice and pulp of 1 orange

3 tbsp Greek yoghurt

Instructions

Blend all ingredients together until smooth. Pour into two glasses and enjoy!
